EGYPTIAN LOVER
Greg Broussard, better known under by the name of his honey-tongued alter-ego Egyptian Lover, is a pioneering hip-hop musician, producer and DJ. Revered as a master of the Roland TR-808, he’s spent 30 years pushing drum machines, synthesizers and turntables to their limits while imbuing hip-hop beats with the spirit of funk and the spark of electro.
Broussard first stepped on stage as a DJ, playing across LA alongside Ice-T with hip-hop crew Uncle Jamm’s Army before beginning his recording career in 1982. Drawing influence from the electric energy of Prince and the futurism of Kraftwerk, he released visionary singles like “Egypt, Egypt” and “Freak-A-Holic” that merged electrofunk and hip-hop, quickly becoming staple cuts for DJs across America.
Continuing to release a series of LPs throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s before taking a break from the music scene, he made a return in the new millennium, releasing an anthology on the cult hip-hop label Stones Throw, performing dates with M.I.A. and reaffirming his reputation as an innovative artist and an electrifying performer: he’s since put on acclaimed live performances and DJ sets at Berlin’s Berghain, Lisbon’s Lux Fragil, Helsinki’s Flow Festival and London’s FOLD and Jazz Café. Egyptian Lover released his latest LP, 1985, in December 2018 on his long-running label Egyptian Empire.
Eddie Hazel
Eddie Hazel doesn’t need much of an introduction. The legendary funk guitarist is ranked #43 in “Rolling Stones Greatest Guitarists of All Time” list. Besides playing and writing epic songs with Parliament Funkadelic, like “Maggot Brain”, Eddie Hazel recorded amazing music as a solo musician. “Jams From The Heart” is a collection of 4 songs recorded in 1975 and released on JDC Records. A must for any fan.
Jace Mile is the moniker used by DJ and producer Michael Callon for producing HOUSE MUSIC (tech house & deep house) influenced tracks, AS WELL AS OTHER ELECTRONIC DANCE MUSIC. JACE MILE has been PRODUCING MUSIC for several years, as well as DJing in and around Los Angeles, and elsewhere.
Adrian Govind, is an LA based beat-maker, musician and producer. Adrian's recent album - Stories From Earth, is a musical painting of life growing up in the 90’s in the epicenter of the gang era of Inglewood CA, as well as his love of East Coast Hip Hop and Jazz. In curating the sound design for the album, Adrian travelled between New York and LA listening to all the sounds of the cities and used his phone and field recorder to sample sounds. HE also created sounds vocally. The sounds of the album feel like a fuzzy, dreamy marriage of old cinema and old Hip Hop. The album was released on Earth Day(April 22) 2020 worldwide on JDC records.
Jammerz
Jammerz made the record “Step On Out, And Jump On In”, a five track record influenced by deep house, techno and funk, as well as numerous singles available for streaming and download. “STEP ON OUT, AND JUMP ON IN” IS Available on vinyl from the JDC store.
